One our site got infected, probably because it was not updated for a while. However, I reinstalled new wordpress, scan content folder and removed infected files what avast antivirus detected. Now hosting company gave me ip based access to admin and I`m trying to scan the site again but it is working only for themes, core files or plugins, if I choose htdocs folder or wp-content folder, then it just shows scanning message and following error: Got Stuck Re-Got Stuck Re-Got Stuck Re-Got Stuck Re-Scanning …/htdocs/wp-content/t but never gets done anything, the time bar stays on 0%. I have tried several times.. Site is not big and i have deleted also most of the plugins. It acted same way couple of days ago and then some more infected files appeared in server. Can it be that also that plugin is compromised so that I`m not able to scan?

It sounds like the admin-ajax.php file is not working on your WordPress install. Can you check that or maybe restore the domain access to your site so that you can run WordPress at the normal URL for your site?
